Today I saw animal art. What I mean by this is that animal can also be like art, anything can, not just paints. But the animals I saw were not alive, they were taxidermy animals. Animals that once they lived. In the artwork, you can see that they animals remain the same, just like if they were alive. Which I believe represents the beauty of living animals. The importance of protect them and their habitat natural. This art represent life and art at the same time. Once it lived and now it is art but its body remains the same. I was shocked when I saw it. I thought it was real. After a moment I felt bad because of how people have this animal, but after a moment I figured that it is to deliver a message of .life and art to the people. I would like to have one of those in my house. I am happy because we can see animals from different perspectives.

A Little Taste of Vietnamese Culture
Today we experienced Vietnamese culture. We went to a Vietnamese Restaurant to eat some of their dishes. One thing I learned was that they have different food and they eat with chopsticks. In this field trip I noticed that Vietnamese people make similar food to the one people in my country make but just with different ingredient and eaten differently. Food like chicken, salad and others. It is also different from my country because in my country we don't speak Vietnamese and we don't even know chop sticks. I felt a little bit weird because it was my first time in a Vietnamese Restaurant but it was also very interesting to know more about another culture and find the similarities and differences as well. I liked it and I would go visit that place again.
The Street Fashion of our Adventures
Every time we went in a field trip we saw people wearing many different kind of casual or formal clothes. I remember the time when we went to the Fisherman's Wharf Pier 39th. Outside the Embarcadero Bart Station, I saw people wearing fancy clothes. People wearing suits, ties, nice shirts and elegant shoes. Many of them were dressing very similar, men and women. They were like politics, lawyers, businessmen(women). The message they were sending was that they are well educated, professionals and very good at what they do.
An outfit that really shocked me was, black high heels, a white mini skirt, purple sunglasses and a purse made out of the skin of a zebra. She was telling to the world that she does not care about what the others think, if she feels comfortable dressing like that she will do it, no matter what.
It was a blond, white, tall, beautiful lady the person who was wearing the exotic outfit. She looked very confident and and determined. She walked straight and fast. She spoke English but with a foreign accent and with fancy vocabulary.

And then we headed to Albany Bowl. We all were having a lot of fun playing bowling. We played two games and I lost the two of them.It is okay though. We had fun. After i was totally toasted we decided to play pool and that was fun too. We had a lot of fun. After all that we went to do some journal writing and finally e came back to school. That was an awesome day.
Tilden Park
On June 10th 2010 We the East bay adventures went to Tilden Park. It was very fun. In the morning we worked on our blogs for a bit. After that we went to the Tilden Park. It was very cool to be out in the chill weather and smell the trees. Once we were there we went inside the Nature Center. It was so cool inside, looking at all the taxidermy animals. Then, we fed some animals. We saw roosters, rabbits, ships, goats, cows, ducks and others. It was fun to feed them. It smelled kinda bad though. Next, we went to a nice place to rest and play some soccer. I slept while the others were playing soccer because I have gone to a club the night before so I was very asleep. It was cool though. Finally we came back to school. That was a great day.

Fisherman's Wharf Pier 39 June 8th 2010
We went to San Francisco. We went to the Fisherman's Wharf Pier 39. We took the Bart to San Francisco. Some of the students got locked in the train so we have to wait for them to take another train to get back together. They were okay after all that. Once we all were back together, we started to walk. There were a lot of people striking at a hotel outside the Bart Station. It was a really good day. We took a 15 minute break to look around in San Francisco. The teachers were a little bit upset because some students took more than 15 minutes. We all walked for a long time to get to the Fisherman's Wharf. Once We were there the teacher were very nice and let us have 1 hour break to see walk around the pier 39. Jose and I walked around and ended up eating beef ribs, salad and rice. It was very nice to see all the things at the pier, even though I am sad because I really wanted to get in the Aquarium but I could not. Maybe next time. After we looked around, we got back together and headed back to school. When we arrived at MacArthur Bart the teachers dismissed us from there. I had a lot of fun. Yesterday was a great day.
The Old Oakland, June 7th 2010
Today we took a tour to Oakland Downtown. A lady was so nice and polite to volunteer and take us and talk to us about the history of a few places in Oakland. We all went to see a Chinese Restaurant. We learned about its history and we found out that it was named after a man. We visited some buildings and learned how they were built. We learned about earthquakes. We walked a lot that day.

U.C Berkeley Field Trip
On June 4th, 2010, we, the East Bay adventures Class, went to U.C Berkeley. U.C Berkeley is a beautiful place. We all walked around and see the campus. We split up in different groups. We had to interview people about different topics. We also had to come up with question and the topics as well. The topic my group chose was "future." I got to interviewed to people, a man and a woman. They both had similar answers to my questions. First I interviewed the woman. My first question was " what is your greatest dream? She said that her greatest dream is to be successful in life. My second question was " Do you think the United States will have another war with another country? " hopefully not" She said. My third and last question was " Do you think that in the future we will have an Asian, Arabic, Or a Latino president? She said that it is a big possibility and maybe a woman. My second interview was with a man. "What is your greatest dream"? I asked him. He said. "I just wants want to see my grandsons grow up, be healthful and successful". My next question was "Do you think the united Sates will have another war with another country? He said yes because it is part of our history. My last question was " do you think we will have an Asian, Arabic, or Latino president? He said that Obama has opened the doors for anyone to hold that position. After we were done at U.C, we went to eat ice cream. Later on, we came back to school.
Vietnamese Restaurant
One food we ate is Vietnamese food.
It looks like rolled tortillas.
It smells like fried chicken.
It tastes like jail.
Another food we ate is carrots.
It looks like orange.
It smells like wet floor.
It tastes like onions.
One restaurant we went to is named Pho. It is a little bit small. They serve Vietnamese food.
Their menu includes coffee, water, beers, chicken, , salads, soups, and other things.
On a scale of 1-10 I would give a 6 to this restaurant because in is too small and the chairs are too uncomfortable. They also freaked out when they found out that all of us were going to eat and they were not able to make the food we wanted so they just cooked a kind of food for everyone.

This is me
What's cracking like it's popping people. My name is Nestor Roman. I came to the United States from Guatemala on May 12, 2007. I love music, read, write, travel and have fun. I attend Oakland International High School. This year is my senior year. In July I will go visit my family and friends back in Guatemala. In the fall I will be attending San Francisco State University.
I am the dreamer
I wonder how things were, are and will be in the future.
I hear people cheering and clapping.
I see the shiniest light at the end of the dark tunnel.
I want to reach my total potential.
I pretend to know no love to look strong, but I just look weaker and sadder.
I see success, help, and fear up ahead in my future.
I worry about feeling and not feeling.
I cry for happiness but also for loneliness.
I understand that life is very hard but there is no reason to give up, because there are people around you that love and help you.
I say be you and do what is good for you, not what you want to do.
I dream the dreams that have never been dreamed.
I try to be and do my best, but I have found out that sometimes that is not enough.
I hope the unexpected for myself as a result of my goals and dreams.
